Three Geisha Marker Art

Image
"Three Geisha"  PITT Artist Pen on medium weight sketch paper. A musician (center) converses with two dancers, one with an umbrella and the other with hat and fan. Geisha were not courtesans (a nice way of saying prostitutes). They were entertainers for the wealthy elite who were masters of social etiquette. They sang, danced, played instruments, and could be hired to amuse and entertain guests at parties. A geisha was meant to represent the very essence of Japanese femininity - beautiful, graceful, delicate, and serene. Sort of like these cranes...

Vehicle Concept: The Linda Burke

Image
Here's another piece of the background work I'm doing for that steampunk painting. This is the MMC Linda Burke, a bulk cargo carrier with drive-on deck and dual cranes. Her unusual green color makes her look like a huge shimmering fish. You can just see the colors of the sunset reflecting off her white command tower. She is a beautiful behemoth that, at the moment, sits idle and empty. This ship will actually be in the background as one of those being tended by the Fair Hope. In the original painting, her position was facing the other way, but looking at a ship's backside just wasn't very interesting, so I turned her to face the viewer and changed her paint color from red and black to green. Only one ship remains - the pilot boat that escorts this proud lady. I'll be on that directly, so keep watching. #drawing #sketching #coloredpencil #steampunk #airship #fantasy #vehicleconcept #conceptart
